In Memory

Composing music for a VR short film is something else. It requires a more interactive way of designing and implementing. In this piece, Blav introduces a unique way of storytelling, which, in VR, comes with specific challenges. With conventional filmmaking, the imposed control the cameraperson has on the perspective of the viewer, enables the filmmaker to control viewers attention in a very direct manner. In VR, forced perspective is a whole different game. The viewer is no longer just an observer, but becomes more of a participant, depending on the design choices of the creator. One has to use other methods and techniques to steer attention in order to properly convey a narrative. Using proper directional sound is therefor a must have tool in the box for any VR maker.
Blav took upon themselves the extra challenge of making In Memory without spoken or written language, therefore relying even more on its immersive visual and auditory experience.
